 - Silicon is a non-metal, it is not magnetic but it can be if combined with other metals.

 - It is similar to all group 4 elements - having 4 valence electrons.  But it is different from 3 of the group 4 elements which, unlike silicon, are metals.

 - Silicon reacts best with oxygen and water.
