- Silicon is a non-metal, it is not magnetic but it can be if combined with other metals.
- It is similar to all group 4 elements - having 4 valence electrons. But it is different from 3 of the group 4 elements which, unlike silicon, are metals.
- Silicon reacts best with oxygen and water.
