- Potassium is an alkali metal, it is not magnetic, but it is a good conductor of heat and electricity.

 - It is similar to all group 1 elements which have 1 valence electron, but it is different from hydrogen, which is  a gas, not an alkali metal.

 - It reacts best with the halogens in group 7.
